The community of faith at the Salem Presbyterian Church is one of the oldest and one of the newest in Washington County. 

It is one of the oldest because it was founded on August 14, 1817.  It is one of the newest because we are intentionally trying to keep our Christian faith in step with a modern, scientific view of life. 

We are a traditional and non-traditional community.  We are diverse in our beliefs and unified in our support and love for one another.  We read the bible but we reserve our worship for the living God, who is continually revealing good news in our midst through sources old and new, living texts and sacred people. 

Jesus Christ is a Savior to some of us, an example of a fulfilled human being who became a son of God to others of us, and an enigma to not a few of us.  Together we celebrate the divine Spirit living among us and journeying with us individually and corporately, teaching and enriching our lives.
