According to legend, St. Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish people. Since we are Presbyterians, we will be celebrating St. Patrick's day by enjoying our Irish heritage [Those of us who have Irish ancestors.] and Irish contributions to music, art, history, and our culture. Corned beef and cabbage, Irish soda bread, lamb stew, apple mash, and blueberry scones are examples of Irish recipes. You don't need to bring one of these....but, it's an idea.
Family Night Supper Wednesday, March 17, 2010 6:00 p.m. Mariner Hall
Wear a shamrock or a bit of green. Come enjoy the Chieftains and other Irish musicians. Bring a potluck dish of Irish food, if you can. Otherwise, good old Presbyterian food will be fine.
Who knows, maybe some leprechauns will appear.
